Fall 2007
Instructor: Siobhan Arnold
Requirements: 4 or
more 8X10 prints, mounted or matted, and spotted.
Take your viewer on a
journey with images. Tell a story
using a series of photographs.
For this assignment, I want
you to think about the idea of sequencing.
How do images work as a
series or as a sequence? How is
looking at a sequence different from looking at a singular image? What kinds of stories can be told
through a series of images? Think
about the way the human eye reads an image. How does the layering of information work in a sequence?
Be sure to consider the
concept of narrative flow in your sequence. What makes a strong story? Think about setting the scene, introducing characters, the
action, the climax, the resolution, etc.
