ASSIGNMENT #2: QUICK PINHOLE PROJECT
STEP 1:
Create a pinhole image using a paper negative. In the darkroom, place a
small piece of photo paper (emulsion side out) inside one of the pinhole
cameras provided in class. Make sure the black tape is covering the
pinhole. Go outside. Find a subject and place the camera on
a stable surface (the ground, a table, a benchÉ). Remove the black tape and make an exposure of 1-2 minutes
(times may vary). Cover the
pinhole with tape and bring the camera back into the darkroom. Open the camera and process the paper
as usual. Examine the Òpaper
negativeÓ and make exposure adjustments.
STEP 2:
Take your dry paper negative into the
darkroom. Contact print your paper
negative to another piece of photo paper using a contact printing easel (or print
proofer). Using a wide
aperture (f2.8, f4), make a test strip with 10 second exposure
intervals. Choose an appropriate
exposure time and make a print.
