Instructor: Siobhan Arnold
Requirements: two photographic images, mounted
and spotted.
metŐ-a-phor:
a figure of speech in
which a work or phrase literally denoting one kind of object or idea is used in
place of another to suggest a likeness or analogy between them; figurative
language- SYMBOL.
Create a
self-portrait, an image that is a representation of who you are and how you see
yourself. A portrait is
traditionally thought of as a physical likeness of oneŐs face. But a
self-portrait does not have to resemble you physically; it can be a symbolic
representation of your thoughts, values, ideals, emotions, interests, etc. It could include other parts of the
body, as a whole or in isolation.
Think about the image you create metaphorically: how can you depict an idea? Or, perhaps you can think of an object
that represents you in place of a physical image of yourselfÉ
